187: Ask Denis: Working Through Change and Resilience

Over my years in leadership I’ve learned that things like change and resilience are easy to talk about but much, much harder to do. It can be quite daunting to see things go outside of our control, but those are the things we don’t need to focus on. So in this episode, let’s take a deeper look at the things we CAN control and how we can use them to navigate difficult or unexpected situations. Tune in and learn more about working through change and resilience.

On this episode:

  • Change is not easy no matter how much people talk about it. At the end of the day you can’t control the things you can’t control. But you CAN control your attitude, your mindset, and where you’re going next.
  • What is resilience really? How do you do it well? I give the example of the journey I went through with my voice to draw a picture around how my attitude and mindset set the foundation for the resilience I would need to get through it. With that, I’ll give you 3 things to do to build up resilience in difficult situations.

Key Takeaways:

  • Change and resilience is hard to do
  • Learn to control your attitude and where you’re going next
  • The definition of resilience
  • Remember to breathe
  • Thinking through things
  • Ask for help!
